Cyclist racially abused by dog walker in South Shields

A CYCLIST has been racially abused as he rode along a path in South Tyneside.

The man was riding along a path crossing the field at the back of Imeary Street and Dean Road, South Shields, when he stopped to let a family pass.

As they did, a man racially abused the cyclist and threatened to set his dogs on him.

The abuse happened at about 6pm on Saturday.

The 26-year-old victim rode off, shaken by what had happened, but unharmed.

The man who abused him was about 5ft 8in, muscular and in his early 20s.

He was walking two Siberian husky-type dogs.

With him was a woman who was pushing a buggy containing a small child.

She was about 5ft 2ins, in her late teens and of medium build.
