Drunken Metro flasher put on sex offenders’ register

A DRUNKEN man who exposed himself to fellow passengers on a Metro train has been ordered to sign the sex offenders register.

Christopher Willis was travelling on a service from South Shields to Chichester when he showed his genitalia.

A female passenger reported the matter to police.

The 34-year-old was arrested for the offence and pleaded guilty to indecent exposure at a hearing at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court in May. The case was adjourned for a pre-sentence report.

Willis, of Baring Street, South Shields, was back at the court yesterday for sentencing.

Christopher Brown, defending, said Willis was ‘disgusted’ by his own actions.

Mr Brown said: “He was intoxicated and acted inappropriately.”

Willis was given a three-year community order with supervision, which will include taking part in a sex offender group work programme.

He was also ordered to pay £50 compensation to the female passenger who complained about his behaviour.

Willis must also sign the sex offenders’ register.
