Jarrow woman charged over attack which left man with cut face


A JARROW woman is one of three people who have been charged in connection with an assault in Gateshead.

The incident happened at about 10pm on Sunday, when a 51-year-old man was attacked at an address in Keats Walk, Gateshead.

He suffered cuts to his face and needed treatment at the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle.

Two men and two women were arrested in connection with the incident.

The men and one of the women have been charged with wounding with intent to commit grievous bodily harm, and were due before Gateshead Magistrates today.

They are Gemma Smiles, 28, of Percy Street, Jarrow, Robert McKegney, 32, of Wardle Gardens, Felling, and Steven Hogarth, 28, whose address is unknown.

The second woman who was arrested, a 42-year-old, whose details have not been released, has been bailed while inquiries continue.
