Man arrested after car crash in South Shields


A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking after a road crash in South Tyneside.

The crash happened just after midnight on Saturday when a vehicle crashed on the roundabout at the bottom of John Reid Road and the A194 Leam Lane.

The vehicle was damaged in the collision.

The occupants suffered very minor injuries only.

Police say two men have been arrested - a 20-year-old on suspicion of aggravated vehicle taking and a 19-year-old on suspicion of being carried in a vehicle taken without consent.

Both have been released on police bail.

Officers are carrying out enquiries in the collision and are asking anyone who saw a dark coloured Mazda in the area of Green Lane and John Reid Road around the time of the incident to get in contact.
