Man attacked by armed raiders during South Tyneside house burglary

A MAN needed hospital treatment after being attacked during a burglary at a South Tyneside property.

The 40-year-old was beaten after two men armed with a bat and a knife forced their way into the address in Bedford Avenue, South Shields.

He suffered cuts to his head. The criminals escaped with house keys.

The burglary happened at about 4pm, yesterday.

The man was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary where he was treated for his injuries and discharged.

The offenders are described as wearing a black hoody and a blue jacket/hoody and left in the direction of St Mark’s Way.

It is thought one of the men may have been bitten by the resident’s dog during the burglary.
