Man charged with attempted murder after South Shields stabbing

A MAN has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a street stabbing in South Tyneside.

A 60-year-old man was found with stab wounds after police were called to River Drive, South Shields, at 6.12pm on Monday.

He was taken to Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary for treatment and has since been discharged.

Dean Glen Marshall, of River Drive, South Shields, appeared before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court yesterday, charged with attempted murder.

No pleas were entered during the hearing.

The case was sent to Newcastle Crown Court, for an initial hearing on May 20.

Marshall, 31, was remanded in custody until then.
