A MAN charged with stealing meat from a South Tyneside store is set to stand trial.

Lee Halcrow is accused of snatching £20 worth of beef joints from Iceland, in South Shields, on July 21.

The 39-year-old denied the charge when he appeared before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

He will stand trial over the matter on September 19 at the court.

Halcrow, of Victoria Road, South Shields, was granted bail until that date.

The conditions are that he does not enter any Iceland store and reports to South Shields Police Station between 10am and noon every Tuesday and Thursday.
