Man held after samurai sword shop raid

A RAIDER armed with a samurai sword staged at attempted robbery at a Store in South Tyneside.

The raid happened at the Nisa store in Whiteleas Way, South Shields, yesterday morning when the man stormed in and demanded cash from staff.

They refused and the man fled from the scene empty handed.

Following police inquiries in the area, a 20-year old man has been arrested and is in police custody helping with inquiries.
