A 20-year-old man arrested in connection with a disturbance involving an air weapon and a knife in South Shields has been released on bail as a police investigation continues.

Police were called to Marshall Wallis Road in South Shields at 8.45pm on Tuesday, July 7 after a report of a disturbance.

A 20-year-old man was arrested in connection with the disorder and an air weapon and a knife were also located near the scene.

Northumbria Police has now confirmed that the man has been released on police bail and said that “enquiries are ongoing” into the incident.
