Motorist denies being over limit at the wheel


A MAN who denies a drink-driving charge has been been given a trial date.

Lee Rushton is accused of being over the limit when travelling in Commercial Road, South Shields, on Saturday, March 8.

The 31-year-old entered a not guilty plea to a charge of driving with excess alcohol at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.

Rushton, of Lingshaw, Gateshead, admitted that the Peugeot 307 he was driving at the time did not have a valid MoT certificate.

He entered a guilty plea to using a vehicle with no test certificate.

A trial date was set for August 18 at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.
