Murder accused in court following death of Daryl Fowler in Leam Lane stabbing

Daryl Fowler, 28, was found unconscious in the street in the Leam Lane Estate on Friday, September 11, after he suffered injuries consistent with a stabbing.
He died in hospital later that day, despite the best efforts of medical staff.

Hide AdInquiries into the circumstances around his death have been ongoing throughout the weekend, with police confirming on Sunday, September 13, that a man had been charged with Mr Fowler’s murder.
Lee Wall, 43, of no fixed abode, appeared before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 14, charged with murder.
He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Newcastle Crown Court on Tuesday, September 15.
Emma Alexander Brown, 39, of Chevington on the Leam Lane Estate, also appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates Court on Monday, charged with assisting an offender.

Hide AdShe was remanded in custody and will appear at Newcastle Crown Court on Monday, October 12.
A 30-year-old woman arrested on Saturday, September 12, has since been released with no further action.
Northumbria Police said specialist officers continue to support Mr Fowler’s family at this time and inquiries into his death will continue.

Hide AdIn a statement they said: “We are totally devastated at our loss of Daryl. He is going to be such a big miss.
"Our hearts are breaking right now, we would appreciate that you will let us grieve in privacy thank you.”
Detective Inspector Graeme Dodds, of the force’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team, appealed for this with information to come forward.
He added: “We would continue to ask anyone who has information that may assist police to contact us by calling 101 or reporting it through our website.”
