No further police action after alleged Ocean Road assaults and racial abuse in South Shields

The caller reported that two men had approached four young Asian men at the junction with Anderson Street and racially abused them.

Hide AdTwo of the victims were also said to have been assaulted during the alleged incident.
Officers were called to the scene as a result of the member of the public’s call, but the victims had already left.
Two men – who matched the description of the suspects given by the initial caller – were arrested nearby and later released on bail.
An investigation was launched into the incident and officers had appealed for the victims to come forward.

Hide AdBut now police have confirmed that the two men arrested, aged 28 and 18, have been released with no further action to be taken.
However, officers are still appealing for anyone with information about the incident to contact the force and have provided details of how any witnesses can provide information.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: “The two men arrested have been released with no further action to be taken.
