OAP bowlers fall victim to sneak thieves

TWO pensioners had their bowling kit stolen in a South Tyneside park.

The theft happened near the bowling green at North Marine Park in Lawe Road, South Shields.

The thief made off with two bowling bags which were left on the ground outside the buidlings next to the bowling green by two elderly women.

One bag is black with a zip on the main body, a velcro closure, a small retractable handle with a red trim.

It contained four Henselite size one bowling balls with a daisy flower motif, grey bowling shoes, a foldable mac, a sun hat, a bowling glove, and other personal items.

The second bag was also black with a retractable handle. It contained two black size 4 Thomas Taylor bowling balls, a blue knitted cardigan, a navy backpack, personal papers, finger wax and pens.

Police are investigating the thefts and are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed them or has any information.

Anyone who knows of the whereabouts of the items or who may have been offered them for sale should also come forward.
