Pervert alert after man approached schoolgirl

POLICE are appealing for information after a ‘suspicious’ man approached a South Tyneside schoolgirl and gave her money.

Officers received a report on Tuesday that a child had been given money by a man when walking to school in West Boldon.

He approached the 11-year-old and offered her a £1 coin.

The girl took the money and made her way to school.

The man was 40-50 years old, of medium build, with a bald head, and was wearing a dark jacket and trousers.

Officers believe he may have been with a second man, who had a beard.

They are keen to identify and speak to both men to try to establish the circumstances.

Extra officers are in the area carrying out inquiries and speaking to local residents.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101, ext 69191.
