Police appeal after stabbing in South Tyneside

A MAN has been stabbed in Simonside Hall in the early hours of the morning.

Police are searching for a man after the incident which left a man in hospital with head injuries and a woman with minor injuries.

Officers are appealing for the public’s help in finding the attacker who is believed to be known to his victims.

Northumbria Police, along with specialist firearms support, attended the scene at 2.40 this morning and searched a property, but enquiries are still ongoing to locate the attacker.

The suspect is described as a white male, who is approximately 30-years-old. He was wearing a grey track suit and a dark blue hoody.

Chief inspector Aiden Sloan said: “Such incidents are rare but local residents will have seen a number of officers in the street in the early hours of this morning. Local neighbourhood officers will be in the area throughout today to support and reassure the local community.”
