Police appeal for motorbike rider

Police are appealing for help to trace a motorcyclist after petrol was stolen from a South Tyneside garage.

Officers were called to St Matthews Service Station in Jarrow after a driver rode off without paying for fuel.

A total of £14 of unleaded petrol was stolen.

The theft happened at 8.55pm on Wednesday April 22.

Police are keen to speak to a motorcyclist who was in the area at the time of the theft and may be able to help police with inquiries.

The rider was wearing a distinctive black and red motorcycle jacket.

The man, or anyone who recognises him, is asked to call police on 101 extension 69691 quoting reference 1243 22/04/15 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
