Northumbria Police were called to Hertford Avenue in Marsden at 8.30pm yesterday after the report was made.

Officers, assisted by the force’s helicopter, were sent to the area, with vehicles and a team also stationed along the grassed embankment at the rear of the street along the Coast Road, Norfolk Road and on Redwell Lane.

A marked car was also seen in the Marsden Inn car park.

The search lasted about an hour, but no arrest has been made, and no one was hurt.
