Production of cannabis, threatening behaviour and having an out of control dog: South Tyneside defendants in court

David Michael Smith, 27, of Julian Avenue, South Shields, admitted breaching a suspended sentence order. He was jailed for 30 weeks, suspended for 18 months.

David Thomas Horn, 27, of Rembrandt Avenue, South Shields, was fined £92 after he admitted having an unlicensed car. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and £33.75 in tax duty.

Mark Lancaster, 54, of Madras Street, South Shields, admitted racially aggravated harassment and threatening behaviour. He was fined £538 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a surcharge of £53.

Marc Mackie, 30, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour in South Shields. He was jailed for 14 days and ordered to pay compensation of £100. He was also made the subject of a two-year restraining order.

Joss Richard Heslop, 26, of Bamburgh Grove, South Shields, admitted taking a vehicle without the owner’s consent, failing to stop after an accident, failing to report an accident, driving without a licence and without insurance. He was jailed for 12 weeks, suspended for 12 months, banned from driving for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £122 surcharge.

Jonathon David Nolan, 32, of Leygate Place, South Shields, admitted production of two cannabis plants and resisting arrest. He was given a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £21 surcharge.

Christopher Hilton, 28, of Gorse Avenue, South Shields, was fined £50 after he admitted breaching a community order. He was ordered to pay £60 costs.

Freddie James Newman, 29, of Milldam, South Shields, was jailed for nine weeks after he admitted entering Asda as a trespasser and stealing tobacco products valued at £1,273. He was ordered to pay the same amount back in compensation.

Lee Robert Emms, 31, of Cobbett Crescent, South Shields, was found guilty of being the owner of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier which was dangerously out of control in Heworth Court. He was also found guilty of two charges of assault. He was jailed for 26 weeks and banned from keeping dogs for ten years. He was also ordered to pay £400 in compensation and £650 in costs.
