A driver was arrested in connection with driving offences after calls to the police expressing concerns for a man's welfare.
The emergency services were called to the Whiteleas estate in South Shields earlier today following the calls.
A spokesperson for Northumbria Police said: “At around 2.11am this morning, police received a report of concern for the welfare of a man on Landseer Gardens, South Shields.
“Officers attended and stopped the man in question in a vehicle in The Nook area of South Shields.
“The man was taken to hospital as a precaution after saying he felt unwell.
"He was later arrested for driving offences.”
