See footage as police launch further appeal to trace five men after violent fight at Newcastle United v Burnley away game

As the football season draws to an end, Northumbria Police have made a further appeal to trace a number of individuals following an altercation at the end of last year.

The fight took place during the Newcastle United’s 1-0 defeat to Burnley that kicked off at 3pm on December 14.

At about 4.25pm that afternoon, a number of people who had been in the Newcastle away end of the stadium were drinking at the The Turf Hotel pub in Burnley after leaving the Turf Moor ground at half-time.

They became involved in a large fight with a number of others who were believed to be from the Burnley area.

Dozens of people are believed to have been involved and 18 men have already been either arrested, or interviewed under caution, by police.

Earlier this year officers investigating the incident released images of nine men they needed to identify.

Now Northumbria Police have released new video footage showing five individuals they still need to speak to and have asked for help from the public.

Detective Constable Ken Barron said: “We have been working closely with Lancashire Police.

“It was a violent fight that took place in the middle of the day and all of those in the footage we have released are believed to have been in the Newcastle end that day.

“They may not be from our region but we know that they could still be well known among Newcastle fans and if people recognise them then we would ask they contact us.

“There is no place for violence in or out of the terraces and anyone found to be involved in violent disorder will face being banned from games.”
