A MAN was caught drink-driving after crashing his car while ‘messing around’ with his radio.

Gary Ord, of Belloc Avenue, South Shields, pleaded guilty to being over the drink-drive limit and driving without due care and attention at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The 33-year-old failed a breath test with a reading of 76 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35.

He was arrested after his Vauxhall Insignia crashed into a parked car in Nevison Avenue, Whiteleas, South Shields, at 12.20am on April 10.

Ord apologised for his actions and was disqualified for 20 months and fined £400, plus £85 costs.
