A MAN has appeared in court accused of assaulting three police officers.

James Brennan denied the charges during a hearing at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.

The 26-year-old faced a further charge, of using or threatening unlawful violence against another person, which he also denied.

All four offences are alleged to have taken place at his home in Madras Street, South Shields, on Thursday, December 11.

Brennan will stand trial over the matters on February 3.

He was granted bail until that date, with the conditions that he resides in Madras Street and keeps to an electronically tagged curfew.
