South Shields man admits to string of child porn charges and also having obscene images involving a horse

A South Tyneside man admitted having obscene pornographic images involving a horse when he appeared before court.

Alan Bernard Scott, 64, of Cumberland Place, South Shields, pleaded guilty to a charge of possessing extreme pornographic images involving an animal when he appeared at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.

Scott also pleaded guilty to three charges of making indecent photographs of children between June 2005 and March 2018. He also admitted a fifth charge of being in possession of a prohibited image of a child.

Glenda Beck, prosecuting, said Scott had 144 category A images, 234 category B images and 359 category C images. There were also more than 20 indecent videos of children.

The case was committed to Newcastle Crown Court for sentencing on January 7 at 10am.

Scott, who was being defended by Joanne Gatens, was granted unconditional bail until the sentencing.
