A man has admitted fiddling his electricity for more than three years.

Simon Foreman, from South Shields, has pleaded guilty to dishonestly using £3,407.48p of electricity without due authority between March 2016 and September of last year.

Foreman, 42, of Marshall Wallis Road, tampered with a meter to avoid paying the sum to British Gas.

South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court has now ordered him to pay £500 compensation by October 7 and complete 200 hours of unpaid work over the next 12 months as part of a community order.
