South Shields man remanded in custody, accused of throwing bleach at his dad

A son accused of throwing bleach at his father with intent to do him serious harm has been remanded in custody.

James Edgerton, 33, of Honeysuckle Avenue, South Shields, entered no plea when he appeared at Sunderland Magistrates’ Court via videolink from HMP Durham.

It is said that he unlawfully and maliciously cast or threw a corrosive fluid, namely bleach, at his father, Colin Edgerton, on September 15, 2014, with intent to burn, maim, disfigure or disable him, or to do grievous bodily harm.

He will appear at Newcastle Crown Court on December 3.
