Anthony Amess is beginning 16 weeks in prison after a court decided that the offence was “so serious” because of both his previous driving record and the nature of the incident.
Amess, 23, of Leighton Street, South Shields, failed to stop after the silver Citroen C4 he was driving collided with a red Peugeot on the A194, at Tyne Dock, on August 11 last year.
