A South Shields stepmum has told of her anguish over her missing stepson, who was last seen in Turkey last summer.
Gary Burns, 39, has been missing since last August, with the last reported sighting in the resort of Icmeler.
Stepmum Dorothy Glenn, from South Shields, has been appealing on social media for the last eight months for information on the disappearance of Gary, but has so far had no luck.
He had been working in the resort’s Vodka bar before he went missing.
Dorothy said: “There have been no reported sightings of Gary since last August, and it has been horrible for all of us.
“At the moment, his sister Danielle is out in Turkey trying to get information from the authorities, but we still appear no further forward.
“The family is in turmoil because of it.
“Every time the phone goes, you expect there to be some news, but it’s nearly always just someone speaking about something else which has been said on Facebook.”
Gary is from Birkenhead, near Liverpool, but Dorothy and his brother Owen live in South Shields.
Dorothy added: “We’re desperate for any information, even if someone may have seen him while on holiday in Turkey.”
The charity Missing People has shared a picture of Gary on its website, and joined in the search.
It posted: “Gary we are here for you whenever you are ready; we can listen, talk you through what help you need, pass a message for you and help you to be safe.”
