Magistrates heard police were called to the New Mill pub in Chesterton Road, Brockley Whins, after the driver said the rear view mirror of his vehicle had been damaged.

Officers went inside the boozer and identified Kirstine Amer, 33, of Whitehead Street, South Shields, as the culprit, on Friday, November 8.

Prosecutor Paul Anderson told South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court that Amer was spoken to and agreed to pay for the damage but swore at officers.

He said: “She started shouting abuse again and the police lose patience and lock her up for being drunk and disorderly.

“She has been before the courts before on quite a number of occasions.”

David Forrester, defending, described Amer as a “vulnerable young lady”, adding: “The police came, and she was mouthing off and she gets arrested.”

Amer was fined £40 after pleading guilty to a charge of being drunk and disorderly and told to pay a £32 victim surcharge.
