Stealing from Aldi, Poundland and Home Bargains – the latest cases heard in court round-up

The following cases were heard at Sunderland, South Tyneside and Gateshead Magistrates’ Courts:

Darren Walter Dempsey, 40, of Bedeswell Drive, Houghton, was fined £415 for using a car without insurance. He was ordered to pay £85 costs and a surcharge of £41.

Jordan Joseph David Karim, 34, of Edmonton Square, Sunderland, was found guilty of sending a message encouraging someone to commit arson by setting fire to a car. He was given a 12-month community order and ordered to pay £300 costs and a £90 surcharge.

Neil Michael Haswell, 40, of Portree Close, Chester-le-Street, was found guilty of speeding and using a handheld phone. He was fined £250 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £30 surcharge as well as having his licence endorsed with six points.
