Stealing dog leads from Pets at Home, assault and motoring offences: South Tyneside defendants appear in court

Christopher Dean Sharp, 33, of Stanhope Road, South Shields, pleaded guilty to stealing dog leads valued at £232 from Pets at Home, washing tablets from a newsagent shop and food from Tesco. He was given a 12-month community order with 150 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £303.95 in compensation.

Jonathon Richard Sharp, 36, of Stanhope Road, South Shields, was jailed for a total of 39 weeks. He admitted breaching a community order, put in place for a string of thefts, and theft of dog leads valued at £232 from Pets at Home and washing tablets from a newsagent shop. He was ordered to pay £130.05 in compensation.

Aaron William Mitcheson, 34, of Alice Street, South Shields, pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal damage and one of assault. He was given an 18-month community order and made the subject of a restraining order. He was also told to pay £415 in compensation, £85 costs and a £90 surcharge.

Lauren Benham, 25, of Barbour Avenue, South Shields, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. She was fined £184 and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £32 surcharge. She was banned from driving for 12 months.

Carl Young, 28, of Ann Street, Hebburn, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention, failing to stop after an accident and failing to report an accident to the police. He was given a 12-month community order with 80 hours of unpaid work and ordered to pay £85 costs and a £90 surcharge. He was also given nine penalty points.

Neall Thompson, 27, of Dryden Close, South Shields, was fined £80 after he admitted assaulting a police officer. He was ordered to pay £100 compensation, £85 costs and a £32 surcharge.

Robert Martin McKegney, 45, of Station Road, Hebburn, admitted breaching a supervision order. He was placed on an electronic curfew for 21 days.

Nathan Shillaw, 25, of Bruce Drive, Hebburn, was fined £80 after he admitted breaching a community order.
