Thief jailed after committing further South Shields offences while serving suspended sentence

Magistrates decided to lock Grant Christopher Hunter up after concluding that his latest offences were “aggravated by the defendant’s record of previous offending”.
Hunter, 43, admitted stealing Armani aftershave from a Volkswagen Passat car in Westoe Road, South Shields, on January 5 and to going equipped for theft after he was caught in possession of a multi-tool in the town’s Highfield Road on the same date.

Hide AdHe received 20 days in custody for his latest offences and another 20 days behind bars after South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court decided to tigger a suspended sentence imposed in June of last year when he was convicted of vehicle interference in South Shields.
Hunter, whose address was given as Her Majesty’s Prison Durham, received credit for his guilty pleas.
The court also made an order for the multi-tool to be destroyed.
