A MAN who raided a South Tyneside library was brought to book by magistrates.
Christopher Brooks stole £70 worth of DVDs from Central Library, in Prince Georg Square, South Shields, between Tuesday, December 9, and Saturday, December 13 last year.
The 52-year-old pleaded guilty to a charge of theft when he appeared before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court.
He was given a six-month conditional discharge and ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £15.
Brooks, of Beach Road, South Shields, also admitted two charges of possession of Class B drugs at the court.
Both offences – one count of possessing amphetamine and a further count of possessing cannabis – took place in South Shields on December 23
Brooks was given no separate penalty by magistrates for the double drug charge.
