Three men break into South Shields home and make off with cash

THREE men burst into a South Tyneside home and stole cash.

The burglars forced their way into a house in Embleton Avenue, South Shields, at 7.30pm yesterday.

They pushed their way past the occupant after he answered the door to them.

Once stole an amount of cash from inside before all three ran off.

The householder was not injured.

The men are described as being in their late teens to early 20s and were wearing black jackets with their hoods up.

South Tyneside Superintendent Andrea Henderson said: “This was a particularly distressing incident for the victim and we are doing everything we can to identify those responsible.

“We have officers carrying out extra patrols in the area and speaking with neighbours and local residents.

“We are checking for any CCTV cameras in the area and we have a number of other lines of enquiry underway, I’d urge anyone who lives, or who was in the Embleton Avenue area at the time of the offence, and who saw a group of three men acting suspiciously to contact us with any information.”
