Three men will appear before a crown court judge on firearms charges after being arrested in South Shields

Three men have appeared in court in South Tyneside on firearms charges.

Ciaran Anderson, 22, Dale Elliott, 28, and John Nimmo, 31, were arrested on Friday, April 24, at a property in Osborne Avenue, off Mowbray Road, South Shields.

Anderson, from Scotland but of no fixed abode, faces a charge of conspiring to possess a firearm, between March 1 and April 24.

Elliott, of Osborne Avenue, is accused of possession of a slam gun firearm, between 30cms and 60cms in length, on April 24.

He is also alleged to have conspired with Anderson and Nimmo to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life on the same date.

Nimmo, also of Osborne Avenue, faces the same single charge of conspiring with his co-accused to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life, between March 1 and April 24.

No pleas were entered at South Tyneside Magistrates' Court and bail applications on their behalf by their solicitors were refused.

Each was remanded in custody to appear at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday, May 29.
