Two men arrested following assault in Hebburn

A MAN suffered lacerations to his face after being assaulted in Hebburn.

Police are appealing for witnesses after the assault, which happened at around 2.25pm yesterday.

Officers attended an address on Kelly Road following a report.

A 23 year-old man was found with lacerations to his face, head and legs after being assaulted by two men. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

Two men, believed to be known to the victim, have been arrested on suspicion of assault.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a silver 02 reg Mercedes in the area at the time. Police are also keen to speak to three witnesses who were approached by the vehicle before the incident. They may have vital information to help police with their investigation.

Extra officers are in the area carrying out inquiries and providing reassurance to the community.
