Two people arrested outside primary school during school run

A man and a woman were arrested following a disturbance close to a primary school.

Police were called to Shelley Avenue in Boldon, at around 3pm on Thursday, following reports of a disturbance.

A 43-year-old man and a 38-year-old woman were arrested on suspicion of assault and have been released on police bail.

Parents taking their children to the nearby West Boldon Primary School on Friday morning said there were officers on the scene.

A spokeswoman for Northumbria Police, said: "Patrols have been carried out in the area to provide reassurance to local residents."
