Woman accused of stealing passenger’s purse on bus

A WOMAN accused of stealing from a fellow passenger while travelling on a bus has appeared in court.

Hayley Pollard, of Heaton Gardens, South Shields, is alleged to have snatched a purse containing cash as well as cards, a driving licence and documents, from the female commuter on Friday, October 11, last year.

The 35-year-old denied the theft charge when she appeared before South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that CCTV from the bus – which was travelling through South Shields at the time – would be required for the trial.

A trial date was set for October 3 at South Tyneside Magistrates’ Court and Pollard was granted unconditional bail until that date.
