Worker loses job at Nissan after stealing six key fobs worth £36

A Nissan worker has been sacked and ordered to pay £376 by a court after stealing key fobs from his employer.

David Coe, 39, helped himself to six key fobs worth £36 when he worked at the firm’s Washington plant, Sunderland magistrates heard.

Coe, of Lindisfarne Road, Jarrow, admitted theft by an employee. Michael Robinson, defending, said Coe lost his job as a result of his dishonesty, but that he has new employment lined up.

Magistrates fined him £140 and told him to pay compensation of £36 to Nissan, a £180 criminal courts charge and a £20 surcharge.
