Daryl Janmaat ruled OUT of Swansea clash amid hand surgery claims

Daryl Janmaat is out of Saturday's game against Swansea City with the hand injury he suffered punching a wall at Southampton.

The Newcastle United defender broke two fingers when he lashed out in frustration in the dressing room at the St Mary’s Stadium, where his team were beaten 3-1.

Janmaat had limped off the field with a groin problem after slipping in the build-up to Southampton’s second goal.

Sources in Holland claim Janmaat has since had surgery on his hand.

Relegation-threatened Newcastle take on Swansea at St James’s Park in desperate need of a win to keep they faint hopes of survival alive.

And United manager Rafa Benitez is desperately hoping that Janmaat can play some part in the club’s run-in.
