Dave Morrow and Franki Salter in double for home club in the South Shields Park Run

Morrow and Daniel Josephs, from South Shields Harriers, pushed the pace from the start over the Leas in the 5km and were stilll together at the head of the field into the final mile.

However, approaching the line, Morrow sprinted clear and was four seconds ahead of Josephs at the finish with 18:46. Shields’ Nick Joyce, who has joined Tyne Bridge AC, was fifth in 19:57, with Jay Bowley seventh in 20:15 and Craig Robe 15th in 21:37.

Michael McNally, from Jarrow and Hebburn AC, finished 18th in 22:12 and second over 50, with Shields’ Tom Davies 20th in 22:22.

Miles Weston was 21st in 22:49 and first over 45, with Daniel Waugh, aged 11, 23rd in a personal best time of 23:07.

Scott Nichol was 24th in 23:30, with Danusz Wisniewski 32nd in 24:15 and Lee Baldwin 34th in 24:32.

Jarrow’s David Smith finished 35th in 24:38 and fourth over 50, with Shields’ Danny Ford 36th in 24:39.David Roberts was 37th in 24:41 and fifth over 50, with Tommy Copp 39th in 24:53 and first over 65.

Jonathan Murphy was 48th in 25:57, with James Cole 49th in a PB of 25:59.

Owen McGarrell was 82nd in 38:39 and third over 55, with Fred Henderson 83rd in 38:41 and first over 75.

Franki Salter,16, finished 22nd overall in the mixed field of 146 taking the women’s title in 22:26.

Carly Henderson, also from the Shields club, was second in 22:34, with Jarrow’s Hannah Molman,14, third in 22:34.

Shields’ Jacky Murdy finished fourth in 22:49 and first over 50, with Jarrow’s Jessica Holman,14, fifth in 23:25.

Shields’ Kelly Beard-Folen was seventh in 23:53, with Kim Lancaster 10th in 26:01 and Amanda Wilson 12th in 26:39.

Jeanette Hewitson was 19th in 27:51 and second over 50, with Ellen White,16, 22nd in 28:07 and Lesley Downey 23rd in 28:15 and first over 55.

Patricia White was 36th in 31:23 and first over 60, with Michelle Loftus 38th in 32:45 and fourth over 50.

Shields’ Alyson West won the women’s title in the Sunderland Parkrun.

West fiinished 41st overall in the mixed field of 181 with 23:01 for the 5km at the Silksworth Sports Centre with Birtley’s Danielle Coulson 11 seconds behind.

Jonathan Balmer was eighth in the Gateshead Parkrun with 19:34 for the 5km in Saltwell Park.

Jarrow’s Helen Ruffle was eighth in the Riverside Parkrun at Chester-le-Street and first over 50 with 23:54 for the 5km.
