Confectionery connoisseurs could soon have a new place in Jarrow to indulge their sweet tooth.

Plans have been submitted to convert a former shop to a cafe and dessert parlour.

According to an application lodged with South Tyneside Council, the proposed business in Grange Road would open 8am-8pm and would not need any external building work.

It says the venture will ‘help with the sustainability of the area by bringing a new family-orientated venue’.

Comments on the scheme will be accepted until October 25.
