Dog '˜stabbed' several times in Hebburn

The RSPCA fears that a dog found in Hebburn has been stabbed.

The female black and white Shih Tzu was found near Prince Consort Road on Sunday, with injuries suggesting it had been stabbed.

RSPCA inspector, Helen Nedley, said: “She has a number of wounds which appear to have been caused by a sharp pointed object like a knife.

This female black and white Shih Tzu was found in Hebburn with injuries consistent with having been stabbed.

“She has a slash on her nose and approximately seven other wounds measuring between 1cm-3cm wide on her left shoulder and neck.”

It’s believed the incident happened late on Sunday.

She was taken to a vets where she is receiving treatment and is expected to make a full physical recovery.

Inspector Nedley added: “We want to hear from anyone with any information that might help our investigation into what happened to this poor little dog.
