Donations flood in for Shields Gazette Toy Appeal

Thanks to your generosity toys and gifts have been flooding into our appeal, which helps some of the most needy and less well-off families in South Tyneside.

This year’s Gazette Toy Appeal, which is running in conjunction with the charity, Hope4Kidz, asked you to put an extra present on your shopping list to help light up a life this Christmas.

Christmas is a difficult time for many families who are struggling to put food on the table, with little or no money left to buy gifts.

Without your help many youngsters will not be able to look forward to opening a gift on Christmas morning.

Your gifts are distributed not only to needy families, but also to poorly children who will be spending the festive period in hospital.

South Tyneside Hospital and the women’s refuge have already benefited from the generosity.

Viv Watts, from Hope4Kidz, said: “The response we have had so far has been amazing. Each year we hope for a small miracle and every year we are overwhelmed by the response we get to our pleas for help.”

Our drop-off point for gifts this year is D&H Windows, Tudor Road, South Shields, and there is still time to hand in a gift, which will make a real difference to a child’s life on Christmas day.
