Double award glory for South Shields fireplace firm

The South Tyneside firm scooped two prestigious awards at this year’s Hearth and Home Exhibition Awards UK.

The presentation ceremony saw the brand pick up both the Product of the Year and Best Gas Suite awards for its new 52” Cassius marble gas fireplace.

Based in South Shields and with a British manufacturing heritage of more than 50 years, parent company Be Modern Ltd has been manufacturing the premium Elgin & Hall brand of micro marble surrounds and insets since it acquired the Wensleydale company in 2006.

The awards recognised Elgin & Hall’s 52” Cassius marble gas fireplace as Product of the Year and Best Gas Suite, due to its high efficiency glass screen and clever inset within its premium marble surround that delivers a log bed effect.

Designed and manufactured in Britain, the Cassius 52” is designed to conveniently fit into a standard 16” chimney breast opening, which allows a gas-safe engineer to simply replace an existing conventional gas fire in a standard chimney breast opening.

The gas fire provides 4.6kW of heat with an environmentally-friendly 75% efficiency rating.

The Hearth and Home Exhibition is the only show dedicated to the Fires, Stoves and Fireplace industry across Europe.

It brings together all aspects of the industry to showcase the diversity of products, skills and services that the sector has to offer.

The awards are designed to recognise innovation within the industry and focus on technical and design features, quality of manufacture and consumer installation advantages.
