A driver suffered suspected spinal injuries in a rush hour crash on a busy South Shields road.
Emergency services rushed to John Reid Road at the junction with King George Road in the town at 5.30pm yesterday after a Peugeot 307 and a Nissan Note collided.

Police, paramedics and fire crews from South Shields and Marley Park stations attended the incident.
The driver of the Peugeot was freed from the car and placed on a stretcher before being taken to South Tyneside District Hospital for treatment.
The person is believed to have suffered spinal injuries and also a diabetic episode.
The driver of the Nissan was unhurt and managed to get out of the car before emergency services arrived.
