A leading training provider is hosting an open day for young men and women interested in building a career in the offshore wind energy sector.

Maersk Training is staging the free event at its headquarters at Neptune Court, Orion Business Park, North Shields, tomorrow (October 21).

The event runs from 4pm to 8pm. The day is open to everyone and aims to highlight four of its education programmes set to start later this month.

Stuart Cameron, managing director, said: “The wind energy industry is booming and so now is the optimum time for people looking for employment to get essential skills to gain access to this thriving sector.

“The four programmes available all provide people with the exact skills and hands-on knowledge they need.”

The programmes are Fundamental Skills for Offshore Wind Technicians, Wind Turbine Technician Traineeship, Functional Skills in Maths and Functional Skills in English and a Survival and Leadership Workshop
