Two staff members from a Jarrow school have had their work recognised.
Stephen Hepburn, MP for Jarrow, visited St Bede’s RC Primary School in Harold Street, to recognise the unsung stars who help in our schools as part of a special celebration day.
He presented awards to cook Pam Reed and caretaker Terry Woodhouse. Mr Hepburn said it was a great way to make sure the contribution of school support staff is greatly appreciated.
The event was organised as part of Unison’s Stars in Our Schools initiative, aimed at recognising the education system’s unsung heroes.
Mr Hepburn said: “School support staff such as Pam and Terry at St Bede’s do a lot of hard work behind the scenes to help our schools run smoothly and I am proud to celebrate their work as part of this year’s Stars In Our Schools event.
“Unison’s campaign is a fantastic idea for a group of people who do brilliant, tireless work behind the scenes – staff who are excellent ambassadors for the school who go that extra mile to help others .”
and they do their jobs with warmth, friendliness and with a smile.”
