Emergency services called to Marsden Rock after reports of concern for woman on cliffs

A woman has been brought to safety after emergency services were called to the cliffs at Marsden.

Emergency services were called shortly after 12.30pm on Tuesday, November 26, to a report of concern for a woman at the cliffs.

She has now been brought to safety.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “At about 12.40 on Tuesday, police received a report of concern for a female at the cliffs at Marsden.

“Emergency services and negotiators attended the scene and she was brought back to safety.”

Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service confirmed sent four fire engines to the scene to assist Northumbria Police.

A North East Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We received a call from the fire service at 12.40pm following reports of a person on the opposite side of the railings at Marsden Grotto.

“After we arrived the person had been brought to safety.”

The incident has now been resolved and emergency services have left the scene.
