A global engineering company has come on board to lend its support to this year’s Best of South Tyneside Awards.
Jarrow-based UTS Engineering Group is backing the Lifetime Achievement and Sports Team of the Year categories in the Gazette’s annual awards.
The global pipeline specialist recently merged with home improvement specialist Warmseal, which is also backing the awards.
UTS was founded in the mid 1990’s as a supplier of couplings, flange adaptors and repair clamps to the UK water industry.
It now boasts a portfolio of products to service pipelines around the world.
Neil Rowling, commercial manager at UTS said: “Both of the awards we have sponsored resonate strongly with UTS.”
He said that the Lifetime Achievement award was similar to building a company to be a success in the long term.
Mr Rowling said: “Building a successful business can take decades, it does not happen overnight.
“It is all about developing a team with individuals that have a can-do attitude to life and are supportive of each other.”
The company is also backing the Sports Team of the Year Award saying that successful businesses are similar in the way that they both bring together individuals with a winning mentality.
Mr Rowling said: “Successful businesses and successful sports teams have one key thing in common.
“They are packed with individuals that have a winning mentality and a refusal to accept second best.”
The Best of South Tyneside awards, this year, have the backing of Barbour, Northumbrian Water, South Tyneside College, Harlow Printing, BT South Tyneside, JML, and Warmseal.
The finals evening, compered by Ray Spencer from The Customs House, will also feature the ever-popular Young Performer category.
