A call has gone out to the people of South Tyneside to help spruce up parks across the borough this autumn.
South Tyneside Council for Voluntary Service is taking the lead for this year’s autumn clean-up campaign.
We are looking for volunteers for an autumn clean up of parks in South TynesideIan Carr
The project - taking place throughout November - is part of the service’s new Place Changer initiative and is being supported by Groundwork South Tyneside and South Tyneside Homes.
Ian Carr, volunteer co-ordinator at the CVS based in Beach Road, South Shields, said: “We are on the lookout for volunteers to help us make this campaign a big success.
“As well as people coming forward to volunteer their time to clean up parks and green spaces, we are also looking for charities and groups to organise a suitable activity in their local area during the month of November.
“Anyone can help out and you do not need to have any previous experience as support and equipment will be provided. All you need is enthusiasm and a willingness to help us make South Tyneside a cleaner and more attractive space to live.
“The clean-up is being supported by Groundwork South Tyneside and South Tyneside Homes who will provide help and support where possible.”
Volunteers are being asked to give up a few hours of their time throughout November to help clean up the parks and green spaces across South Tyneside.
Activities could include litter picking, conservations work or generally tidying of an area.
The clean-up sessions will be held in areas across the borough and people do not need to have any previous experience.
Support and equipment will be provided.
Anyone interested in taking part in any of the sessions is asked to contact Ian Carr on 456 9551, email email@example.com or Rebecca Maw at Groundwork on 428 1144 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
